Brussels-based filmmaker and passionate chocolate lover.
 
Thanasis Tsimpinis is an award-winning, self-taught film director, with a background in film editing. Before launching his career in filmmaking, he graduated with a BA in Social Administration and Political Science. Currently expanding his artistic horizons in Brussels and LUCA School of Arts.

 

Thanasis' filmography revolves around the exploration of queer identity and binary relations, within a romantic, often dark, dreamlike universe. His award-winning short films “DUST” (2013) and “FAWNS” (2014) have been screened in various film festivals around the world, and hosted in prestigious platforms such as Nowness and Vimeo Staff Pick. His previous film "Escaping the fragile planet" (2020) was awarded during the 43rd Drama International Short Film Festival and was selected for the International Competition of the 43rd Clermont-Ferrand Short Film Festival, as it continued its extensive international journey, reaching 50 festivals in 25 countries. It is now featured on The New Yorker as part of the 'Screening Room' collection.

 

Thanasis is also an active member of the LGBTQIA+ community, having worked as a director in various social campaigns aiming to fight discrimination and inequality against LGBTQIA+ people in Greece and raise awareness on issues such as HIV treatment and marriage equality.
